Turns out many years ago, two idiots named Cloward and Piven devised a plan that would force the ascendant Democratic Party to push and install Guaranteed Minimum Income (GMI) for all poor people in the US.
The strategy: flood government offices with so many requests for Welfare, the only workable response would be blanket GMI for everybody living at or below the poverty line.
As you can see, Cloward-Piven has been slithering toward success. It’s not there yet, but it’s getting there.
So I have a vision.
Buckle up.
In Chicago, the Police Chief collars a bunch of gang members. Disaffected youths. Richard, Gerry, Jimmy, Ron, George, Bill.
He talks to them privately.
“Don’t worry, we aren’t arresting you. We’re putting you in a plan. For the next year, you boys are going to be part of an experiment. The City is going to give each of you $2500 a month. Basic survival income. We want to see what you do. We’re already tracking your movements, so we’ll know. Will you commit fewer armed assaults and murders, or more? Will you sell less drugs or more?”
LONG SILENCE.
Richard says, “Yeah? Suppose we do less crime? What happens then?”
The Chief says, “Nothing happens. You got your 2500 a month.”
…So after a year, it turns out these six gang members committed more assaults and murders than usual.
The City’s solution? Give each of them $15,000 a month for a year and see what happens.
Year after year and raise after raise, the results are an upward graph in assaults and murders.
Finally, when each of the six members are given $100,000 a month, they commit fewer murders and assaults. The City planners decide they‘ve made an important discovery:
