Election 2024: I continue my coverage; the dubious Robert Kennedy platform 1.0
Kennedy's calling them priorities. You can read them at Kennedy24.com. It's his first shot out of the box, so we can cut him a little slack. For now...
In this installment, a few observations first.
Ron DeSantis may be the smartest man in the campaign, if he’s in. He’s looking. He’s thinking. Considering. Estimating his chances. He’s the only (potential) candidate who’s actually accomplished anything worthwhile serving in a political office. I’m talking about his victories in Florida. Of course, some people will argue Trump scored major victories—but when the dust cleared, what did we have? Lockdowns, ruination of the economy, the COVID kill shot.
DeSantis punctured the fakery of the COVID PCR test. He outlawed, to a degree, presentations of transgender propaganda in schools. He knocked off the COVID restrictions earlier, and with more finality, than other governors. He went to battle with the mega-giant Disney. Of course he’s going to lose some and win some there, but he’s already exposed the company as a center of Woke bullshit, which certainly doesn’t help Disney’s bottom line. It’s no longer the happiest place on Earth. DeSantis has a formidable mind, especially for a politician. Marshaling legislative and executive forces to score non-woke victories takes real skill.
He has that skill, and low-wattage charisma. Voters have to take him as a doer. Not a talker. That’s a bad situation for a candidate to be in. Voters like talkers. Bill Clinton, Obama, Reagan, Trump. As George Carlin once said, voters like to see their bullshit out in front.
The fact that Biden has zero charisma and can’t talk and can’t find his ass with both hands most of the time is just one more reason on top of other reasons why I think the 2020 Election was a rig-job.
DeSantis is looking at Trump and wondering whether it’s worth it to try to work around the Orange Man’s popularity. There are still a whole lot of dumb people in the country who barely know who he, DeSantis, is. Much less what he’s done.
Every Bush-associated Republican operative and family member is hoping they can push DeSantis into the race and erase Trump. So far, it’s a fantasy.
Trump, as I’ve detailed, has worn out his welcome—if facts were relevant. His major promises have been empty. But he’s still got millions of people hanging on his coattails. He told them he’d get them the moon but all he got them was a bathroom at a gas station.
Bob Kennedy has put out a platform. Not an online social media platform. I’m talking about a list of issues and positions.
