I like watching animals on television. This may be a sign of approaching senility, but others will have to make that judgment call.

However, the zoo shows are now mostly medical now. It’s a disappointing development. I’m watching keepers plan how they’re going to anesthetize a giant rhino, turn him over on his side, and allow the vet to perform the annual checkup.

A seal oinks and slithers and waddles down a well-lit hallway behind his keeper on the way to the infirmary so a doc can check his red eye and nasal drip.

The snow leopard is in crisis. He needs injections of meds which may or may not kill the parasites in his brain.

Of course, more basically, all these wild animals are in the wrong place. They belong OUT THERE. Everybody knows that.
