the republic was lost in January 1861 when Lincoln was inaugurated. that was the permanent installation of big government and since then everything is run by it. these are just the latest games they play.
There is a real question for me as to when the republic was ever the republic. You might have to go back to 1825 for some semblance of the idea still in play and even then, conquest was on.
How do we separate the ideals of the country with the history of the nation? When was it "right"?

We have a chance to start over I hope.
