I can say with absolute certainty that my command of the English language, 8th grade level, was beyond what a college graduate has today. If you didn't go to Catholic school in the 50's you don't know what I'm talking about. My teenage boys would yell at me and say "Will you stop talking like that and talk normal". I laughed but it wasn't funny. I realized, in the 80's, 90's something was horribly wrong with public school. To be sure, I was outraged.

"jeopardize, assassin, cognitive, apparently, obliterate" they had no clue. Like hell, was I gonna change my speech. "See that book on the table, it's called a dictionary, what word did you not understand?" Look it up, NOW!! I ripped their teachers apart for not including definitions with spelling words, to no avail. They are near 40 now and still call me and say, "Hey Mom, I'll bet you don't know the meaning of this word". To wit I say, "OK hit me"

Catholic school in the 70s in suburban New Jersey was exactly the same. My kids laughed at me when I said to say "yes" not "yeah". They learned how to parse a sentence at home.

And don't you just love it when they walk in the door and say "Hey", instead of hello. I don't even turn around. Then they put their hand on my shoulder and say "Hello Mother". OK, that's better, now we can talk.

Marxist / Socialists demand that their populations be uneducated. The absence of the thinking man in our society makes control so much easier.

Wow- what a bold and innovative approach to avoiding the racist public school programming!

I graduated from Fenger high school in 1968. We had a tumultuous year in our nation. My curriculum consisted of Algebra, advanced Algebra, Geometry, solid geometry, Physics, AND CHEMISTRY; also English, trigonometry and time for competitive sports . Prepared me well enough to earn a spot to the Naval Academy

Failures in education by black students is a chronic problem for many many decades…. Violence in schools is not addressed properly. Add leftist academics, and you have total failure

Job security and protection of the regime. Teach most of the students only enough to “get by” so as to eliminate the chance of many of their uneducated charges to challenge the system. The students who adhere and accept “the system” are allowed an education sufficient enough to gain entry and propagate “the system” right on up to the PhD level which produces a limited and sufficiently indoctrinated replacement class…

TEACHER: What is the difference between ignorance and indifference?

ANNIE ARROGANT (quickly responding in her usual defiant sass):I don't know and I don't care!!!

TEACHER (hesitantly in surprised amazement):That's correct Annie.

When I taught, which was back in the 90s, standards had already dropped precipitately and much of the teaching literature discussed racist teaching methods. This wave is a long time coming in and it surprises me not in the slightest that standardized tests have been declared racist. The entire construct of education is on the guillotine. And why wouldn't it be?

Since the devolution of education which markedly began with post modern literary theories which emerged in the 1950s, literature has become suspect. The premises behind deconstruction, for example, ultimately lead to anarchy and destruction. You can also see that it is the goal of communism--it's the patriarchy, man.

All advances have been annihilated. People don't even read maps anymore. They use calculators for math. They let the computer check their spelling. They don't need to learn other languages because, hey the computer will translate. Alexa will tell them what to do. The car GPS tells them where to drive and lord help them if the wrong information has been programmed in because they will never get where they are going.

It’s funny you mention GPS

I’ve driven an 18 wheeler for 38 years and worked in accident reviews teams for the safety department… main cause of hitting a bridge.,, but the HPStold me to go this way

The education establishment, similar to the medical establishment, is a more than century-old disaster, both based on fallacious assumptions, and both accepted and promoted by several generations of a successfully deceived populace.

Proof of that deception is the many who believe they received a "good education" (and annually visit their MD and have "bloodwork" done,) and who continue to send their kids off to school.

According to the well researched book, Deliberate Dumbing Down of America, by Charlotte Iserbyt, this is all by design. When she worked in DC for the DOE during the early days of the Reagan presidency, she discovered all kinds of documents linking our education with the Soviet model which was designed to create non-thinking worker bees. She exposed this, got fired then did the research to trace the history of this nefarious plan which is the book I mentioned above.

We all know the public school (probably private as well to some degree, but I'm ignorant on that) system is in place to create worker bee's to fit nicely into the controllers/programmers system. They don't want us all to be successful in doing whatever it is that we dream of doing...they sure want you to dream in this nightmare they've created on purpose. Hopefully this all comes to a head soon just not sure I want to be around when it does. Unless we win, of course...but too many are still brainwashed/indoctrinated/programmed into thinking everything seemingly happens organically).
