I used to work in an urgent care clinic and people would be astonished if they knew what really went on behind the scenes. For the most part, doctors are just pulling a diagnosis out of their asses. At a staff meeting the medical director would encourage doctors to "just prescribe something so the patient thinks you did something. If they don't get better, they'll come back". No joke. The clinic started paying doctors according to how many patients they saw so the clinic fired all of the doctors who actually spent quality time with patients and genuinely cared. The new doctors would fight amongst themselves if one doctor saw more patients. Doctors would LITERALLY have a prescription ready to give the patient BERFORE they even laid eyes on the patient, they would spend less than a minute talking with the patient and move on to the next victim. Most would lie in their documentation to get higher reimbursement. Another tyrant, arrogant doctor couldn't function in her day-to-day life. She admitted she wouldn't drive, cook, do laundry or any housework, and her husband had to lay out her clothes in the morning. He would deliver her snacks throughout the day. If her husband went out of town, she would come to work disheveled. Absolutely pathetic. Doctors are NOT the best or the brightest. They are good at memorizing medications and symptoms and clicking boxes on the computer. Most of what a doctor orders now is strictly dictated by insurance or hospital policy so there is no art to practicing medicine anymore. If doctors dare go rouge and think independently, they are quickly snapped back in line by administration. That experience was the beginning of my awakening.
Hmmm. I don't know if I'd call it optimism, but I do feel more empowered and I'm no longer afraid of "catching" an illness. And, like you, I'm taking more responsibility for my health so I can stay as FAR from the medical system as I can because the clowns that call themselves "doctors" will probably do more harm than good. Going to the doctor is a crap shoot LOL!

Here’s to awakening 👀. I wish it comes with a nice dose of optimism.
