“…the day you were born and the day you find out why.”
The famous statement has impact. No doubt about it.
I would change the second half to: the day you DECIDE why.
Or: the day you INVENT why.
Or: the day you decide what to do about it.
My quarrel with the quote is based on: lots of people rushing to judgment about what they’re MEANT to do in their lives.
They want a command from above. Possibly from Mars.
“I was down at the corner eating a tofu sirloin, when suddenly I realized what I was supposed to do on this Earth.”
“Really? And what was that?”
“Sign a contract with a new agent, star in superhero films, and use that platform to tell the world about climate change…”
“You know, there’s a very attractive small island in the South Pacific where you could emigrate.”
“What?”
“An island.”
“Why the hell would I move to an island?”
“I could give you lots of reasons. But I’m late for an appointment with an electroshock therapist.”
“You’re getting SHOCK treatments?”
