It’s a tough choice.
Sifting through memories, I come up with two. Lethal Weapon 1 and Death Wish 1.
Lethal is terrific because Mel Gibson wants revenge on all bad guys. He’s ready, able, and willing on any front. And he’s desperate from the get-go. He has nothing to lose. So his fury is already boiling from the opening scene.
On the other hand, he’s a cop. Charles Bronson in Wish is a private citizen. His family has been destroyed.
Private citizen is a little better than cop.
People know police forces have been trained to be exceptionally cautious and politically correct. So they want to see vigilantes when they sit in the dark and watch a movie. I do, too.
