Taylor Sheridan, architect of the smash hit Paramount series, Yellowstone, now says the show is definitely NOT “conservative.”
And he implies the millions of conservative fans who put him on the map are clueless doofuses.
The show, he says, is Progressive.
Uh-huh.
So the most compelling scenes in the series—Beth Dutton making absolute mincemeat of wokey dokey characters…those were just dreams fans were having. Those moments never occurred.
Sheridan might be experiencing a load of panic, because the stink of CONSERVATIVE in Hollywood is a death sentence.
Since the second half of Season 5, which will terminate Yellowstone, keeps getting pushed back, I’ll intervene and tell Sheridan how he can cement his Progressive status going forward.
In a gut-wrenching scene, ultimate tough guy Rip discovers Beth, his wife, is actually a black man. A gay black man.
Don’t ask me how this works. Sheridan is clever enough to figure it out.
And Rip, to his everlasting credit, comes to grips with his shock. “If you think I’m going to divorce you, baby, you’ve got another thing coming. I’m in this for the long haul. We’ll talk it out.”
Kevin Costner’s character, John Dutton (Costner now has his own problem with conservative stink) is revealed as a full-blooded Lakota.
That’s what he’s always wanted to be. Now he’s back with Dances with Wolves, where he feels safe. Like his son, Kayce, who underwent a decidedly cheesy Vision Quest in Season 4, Kev does his own Quest, on top of a mountain, freezes his ass off, and sees an American eagle wearing a tourist shop Indian headdress—thus signaling every cattle ranch in the Valley has to be destroyed and returned, in pristine form, to the Indians.
Boom. Progressive.
