Excellent Jon. I’ve started to realize that the biggest crisis we all face is a shortage of empathy. Discernment also. I have 3 stepsons, all retired police officers. Following the Uvalde shooting and reports that 19 police officers stood outside while children were gunned down, I said my stepson would have charged in and ended this horror. If he was ordered to stand down by a superior officer he would have said "Go F***k yourself", and proceeded into the building. Jon is right, the number of great police officers far outnumber the bad, and I do not consider Derek Chauvin a bad police officer, perhaps not a great one, but not a bad one, by any means.

I don't know about elsewhere, but off-duty police officers in Wisconsin have to carry a weapon at all times. They are expected to enforce the law 24/7
